Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1953, Marcia Hines debut at age sixteen in the stage musical Hair and followed this up with a starring roles as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Throughout the 1970's, Marcia became Australia's top female performer with hit after hit, culminating in being crowned TV Week Queen of Pop in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
Marcia's recording career tapered off in the mid 1980's and came back with a vengeance in 1994 with the release of Right Her and Now.
In 2000, Marcia recorded the official Australian Olympic Team song (Rise).
Marcia became the "nice judge" on Australian Idol in 2003, a role she continues to enjoy to this day. In 2007, Marcia was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in recognition of her outstanding contribution the Australian recording industry. |
