The man known as "Thorpie" was one of Australia's first rock superstars, hitting the airwaves with a bang in 1964, having first come to everyone's attention the year before as the resident act at Surf City in Kings Cross.
In the following 30-odd years, sometimes with the Aztecs and at other times by himself, the great man took the world by storm.
Sadly, Thorpie played his last show at the Westernport Hotel in San Remo (Victoria) on Sunday 25 February 2007. He died of a heart attack on 28 February 2007, aged 60. |
